What happens after you request a free website
You send a brief that takes about 3 minutes, and FreeWebGuy sends a private preview of your first version within 48 hours of your brief. You ask for changes before launch. Nothing is charged until you approve the site and set up your $15-a-month SMBcrm hosting plan; then the site goes live.
Here is every step between sending FreeWebGuy a brief and going live, including the four things people ask about most: who checks your site, when you pay, who bills you and how you cancel. If you’re still choosing between a builder, a freelancer and a done-for-you service, start with the five ways to get a business website.
| Step | When it happens | What you pay |
|---|---|---|
| You send the brief | Whenever you like; it takes about 3 minutes | $0 |
| Your preview arrives | Within 48 hours of your brief | $0 |
| Your site goes live | When you approve it and set up your plan | $15 a month starts here |
Step 1: You send the website brief
The FreeWebGuy website brief takes about 3 minutes and needs no credit card. It asks four things: the name and type of your business, what you do and where, what the site should help visitors do, and where to send your preview.
You can add a link to your current website or Google Business Profile and tell us whether you have a logo and photos. Three optional screens ask about your customers, the pages you want, and the look and public details of the site; skip them and we choose for you. Rough answers are fine. Sending a brief charges nothing and commits you to nothing.
Step 2: We review your brief
FreeWebGuy reviews every brief before any building starts and can decline a project that does not fit. The Terms of Service name the usual reasons: capacity, subject matter, technical fit and legal risk (section 2).
Local service and appointment businesses, restaurants and cafes, shops, professionals and nonprofits are a good fit. Large catalogs, custom software, memberships and complex integrations are quoted separately before any work starts.
Step 3: We build your first version
Your first version arrives within 48 hours of your brief. Bigger sites, or briefs missing key details, take a few days more. We use AI to build fast. A person checks every first version before you see it.
The first version is the full site. It has the pages your brief calls for, a layout built for phones first, SEO basics (page titles, descriptions and structure) and a contact or request form that emails you. Sites that take appointments get a Book button. It opens the scheduler you already use, or a request-a-time form that emails you each request.
The 48-hour first version is a target, and the Terms say so: section 2 describes delivery times as targets rather than guarantees, because timing depends on the size of the project, the details you send and how quickly you reply.
Step 4: You review a private preview
We email you a private link to the finished site. Open it on your phone and on a computer, and read every page. Check the facts about your business with care: prices, offers, phone number, address, hours, service area and links. The Terms make that review your job before you approve (section 6), because nobody knows those details better than you.
Review it at your own pace. Nothing is charged while you look.
Step 5: You ask for changes
Reasonable revisions before launch are included. We revise the preview with you until it matches your brief. Write changes in plain words: “move the phone number to the top”, “swap the second photo”, “add the towns we cover”. You don’t need design terms.
If you decide not to go ahead, you owe nothing. Ending a FreeWebGuy project before launch carries no fee.
Step 6: You approve, set up your plan and go live
When you approve the preview, you set up your SMBcrm account and card for the $15 hosting plan. That is the only time we ask for payment details. SMBcrm is the platform that hosts and bills your site. FreeWebGuy is a brand of Leads 365 LLC in Gilbert, Arizona, and Leads 365 LLC also operates SMBcrm.
Next comes your domain. A domain you already own stays yours and we connect it. A new one costs about $10 to $25 a year, paid to the registrar, in your name. Once the domain points to the site, it is live.
After launch: edits, support and canceling
After launch you make edits with your site’s AI builder and get help from the platform’s 24/7 chat support. Email hello@freewebguy.com about your design and we reply within one business day.
- Small online stores are included when we confirm they fit your plan. Payment processors charge their own fees, and large catalogs are quoted before any work starts.
- SMBcrm plans from $97 a month add CRM, email marketing, automation and a built-in booking calendar. They are optional.
- Month to month, no contract. Cancel the $15 plan any month in your SMBcrm account. FreeWebGuy charges no cancellation fee.
- If you cancel, the site goes offline. Ask us and we can help you gather your text and images. SMBcrm keeps account data for about 30 days after a plan ends.
The catch: $15 a month, and only after you approve it
The catch is that the website is free to build, not free to run. FreeWebGuy charges $0 for the design and build and $15 a month for hosting, and the hosting starts only when you approve the site. If you never approve it, you never pay.
A few costs come from other companies or only apply if you need them:
- A new domain, about $10 to $25 a year, paid to the registrar.
- Payment-processing fees if you take payments online.
- Usage-based text, email and AI charges if you turn those features on.
- New pages, a redesign or a large catalog after launch, quoted and approved before work starts.
Your domain, logo, photos and text stay yours. The site design and the hosting platform are licensed to you while your $15 plan is active. For the payment timeline on one page, see how FreeWebGuy works, and for finished designs in your trade, browse website examples by industry.
Questions
Do I need a credit card to send the brief?
No. The brief asks about your business and where to send the preview, nothing else. You enter payment details only when you approve the preview and set up your SMBcrm plan for the $15 hosting.
What if I don't like the preview?
Tell us what to change. Reasonable revisions before launch are included, and we revise the preview with you until it matches your brief. If you decide not to launch, you owe nothing.
Is the 48-hour first version guaranteed?
It is a target. Your first version is due within 48 hours of your brief, and bigger sites, or briefs missing key details, take a few days more. FreeWebGuy's Terms of Service describe delivery times as targets rather than guarantees.
Can I keep the domain I already have?
Yes. A domain you already own stays yours and we connect it. A new one costs about $10 to $25 a year, paid to the registrar, in your name.
Can FreeWebGuy turn down my project?
Yes. We review every brief and can decline a project that does not fit. Sending one never commits you or authorizes a charge. The Terms list capacity, subject matter, technical fit and legal risk as the usual reasons.
How do I cancel after launch?
Cancel the $15 plan in your SMBcrm account, any month. There is no contract, and FreeWebGuy charges no cancellation fee. An email to FreeWebGuy does not cancel the SMBcrm plan on its own, so use your account.
